I co-authored an article in Sleep Medicine entitled “Environmental, Social, and Health Burdens in relation to Sleep-Disordered Breathing among Patients of Community-Based Health Center Clinics in the United States” led by Dr. Wensu Zhou.

We assessed the potential relationships between community-level environmental, social, and health burdens (see the Environmental Justice Index from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC] and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry [ATSDR]) and sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) prevalence in 2022 across 1,406,727 patients in the Accelerating Data Value Across a National Community Health Center Network (ADVANCE), led by OCHIN.

We found that higher overall U.S. Census Bureau census tract-level environmental, social, and health burdens were associated with higher SDB prevalence with variation by sociodemographic group.
